Traveling the World has never been simpler. Obtaining a passport is relatively quick and easy, visa programs are abundant, airfares don’t cost an arm and a leg, and the desire for people to branch out and leave there “comfort zone” is growing. Current events in the World Economy change our points of view of the world around us almost on a daily basis. Both security and permanency are becoming endangered species.

Inside all of us is the desire to “See what’s out there”. In most of us that desire is virtually hidden; locked away deep inside, the key nowhere to be found. In a select few of us that desire has turned to action. You are now viewing this website, and becoming a part of its ever growing community because YOU are one of the select individuals that has decided to take action and see what’s out there.

Four years ago I left the US on a business trip to Europe. My eyes were opened, and my perspective changed forever. It was there I met my current wife, whom, being of like mind, was comfortable living virtually anywhere. We stayed in Europe a while for business, the same business that has taken us to the Caribbean and South America. Dozens of cities compressed into a relatively short period of time can be daunting, especially when you feel like you are “on your own”. We literally had to learn by trial and error and the “school of reality”.

Although there is quite a bit of information for us travelers and expatriates scattered around the internet, the majority, I found, was not giving “the right” information that needed at the particular time. It was either to specific, dealing with something that I didn’t need to know, or too vague, giving me a general idea in the back of my mind on a particular topic, but nothing too useful.

So what has been created here at Home Sweet Earth, is a step-by-step, “Everything you need to know” site, to answer any questions you may have about moving and living abroad.
